How HEPA Filters Filters Work
The Hepa filters stand for high efficiency particulate air filters. They are able to capture 99% particles that with 0.3 micron or bigger diameters. There are so many people have no idea about how big the 0.3 micron diameter particle is. Let me give you some explanation. For instance, from 0.1 to 0.3 micron, they could be dust mite and allergens that we can't see through our eyes. From 0.3 to 1 micron, they could be tobacco smoke, pet dander or bacteria such as staphylococcus. The Hepa filter is made of a fiberglass that possesses diameters between 0.5 and 2 micrometers. Basically, Hepa filters have certain standards of efficiency, and they have to meet high requirements in order to satisfy various sues such as in medical centers, automobiles, air planes, home and so on.
Functionally, Hepa filters absorb contaminated particles when polluted air goes through the air purifiers. Bacteria, dust, those with 0.3 micron or larger particles would be attached to the filters, rest of them in the air comes out through the filters. Because the Hepa filter sheet is made of randomly arranged fibers, the process of the purification includes interception, impact, diffusion. First of all, the interception means that the filters will block those dust and large particles when the polluted air goes through the Hepa filter. The second process is the impact, which means those arranged fibers on Hepa filters would impact particles' directions and separate large particles from the air. The final step is to diffuse the air. When bacteria, allergens collide with Hepa filter's fiber, less than 0.3 micrometer particles will go through, but larger than 0.3 micrometer particles will be blocked.
To sum up, the Hepa filter is efficient to remove those contaminants from our indoor air through that three processes. That's an important reason that people will ask if it's a Hepa filter air purifier before they buy any air purifier. Please log in at:www.atlasairpurifier.com for more information.
